September mornings with the beautiful monarchs on our butterfly bush! Monarchs that emerge in late August and September don't have the urge to reproduce – instead, they migrate. “Go, sit upon the lofty hill, And turn your eyes around, Where waving woods and waters wild Do hymn an autumn sound. The summer sun is faint on them— The summer flowers depart— Sit still— as all transform’d to stone, Except your musing heart.”
A big thanks to Jim Wallace, who was commissioned to design and build the parrot which we attached to the Malta Rudder, in the park. Additionally, PPA member, Deb Grasby, and the Bayfield Artist Guild painted the Hyacinth Macaw Parrot a brilliant blue with vibrant yellow eyes. The significance of the parrot is that it was rescued, along with a crew of 10, when the 3 masted, 138 foot schooner named The Malta ran aground near Pioneer Park in a violent storm in November of 1882.
What a great addition to the Malta at Pioneer Park! A big thanks to Deb Grasby and family along with members of the Bayfield artist Guild for painting it.
